Some Comments from Cardinal O'Brien,

· “Climate change is an issue of human justice. Millions of people in developing countries are already being affected by increased storms, droughts and changing weather patterns, despite the fact that they have done the least to cause the problem.

· I’ve seen on many overseas trips to see SCIAF’s work in action how vulnerable poor communities are to extreme weather. Changes to the seasons alone are causing havoc with people’s lives now. A failed harvest or crops being washed away by flash floods mean that families will go hungry.

· The Scottish Climate Change Bill is a fantastic opportunity for Scotland’s politicians to have a real global impact at a crucial time. Strong legislation is needed to ensure this country does its fair share to address climate change and help the people in developing countries who are being most affected. It is an opportunity for Scotland to lead the world ahead of global talks on the issue later in the year.”
